Theory of Change

3.5 % in 5 years

Taghyeer’s theory of change is based on the outcome of the political scientist Erica Chenoweth, who has a long history of researching nonviolent resistance. Analyzingng over 300 campaigns in the last century, Chenoweth and her team found out that:

  1. 53% of nonviolent campaigns were successful, whereas only 26% of violent campaigns were.

  2. All nonviolent campaigns that mobilized 3.5% or more of the population managed to achieve their goals.

Our theory of change relies on mobilizing 3.5% of the Palestinian public in the next five years.

Taghyeer Movement was founded based on the concept of nonviolence in action. As an inclusive nonviolent movement, Taghyeer offers the Palestinian public a unique opportunity to engage in a game-changer effort. The movement has set up approaches that allow for reaching the full spectrum of civil society. Once the movement reaches 105,000 people (3.5% of the Palestinian population), we will be able to achieve our objectives and create enough grassroots momentum to pressure political leadership in Israel and Palestine.

Our activists are the engines for social change. Together, they build the foundation for our overall vision. Taghyeer has developed its core programs and on the ground programs in order to reach its goal of mobilizing 3.5% of the Palestinian population which will result in achieving Taghyeer’s vision. All the programs of the movement are designed based on integrating the following approaches:

The six approaches of Taghyeer

Taghyeer is a grassroots movement
Taghyeer is a grassroots movement
